I like to lead by example. I feel it's really important if I ask someone to do something that I'm also willing to get out there and do the same thing, to be there when things get tough to help out. I like to make sure that I'm able to listen. I'm able to remove any obstacles that come up during the day or during the shift and resolve problems. My goal is to make sure that everyone can do their job, which is to deliver great patient care, and the only way that I can do that is to make sure that I'm in it with everybody else. I'm same part of the team.

Successful in the float pool, you definitely need flexibility. You're on a different unit almost every shift and being able to take care of different patient populations from shift to shift is very important, and also being resourceful. Knowing who your resources are and where to find certain answers is very important as well. And it also really helps to be able to establish a good professional rapport with anybody that you work with. It's one of my favorite things about the float pool, is being able to work with everybody around the hospital.
