One of the ways our team works together daily is by constantly helping each other out because PACU can be critical care. We do get some critical patients in our recovery rooms, so if somebody does get a patient that they're having to do a lot of work with, like giving blood or helping or they're crashing, there's always other people to help out. You're never gonna be alone in any situation, whether management is coming to help you or the people in the bays next to you are helping you out. You always have that support from everyone. Right, and in PACU, we are a rotation-based unit, so you have one nurse that gets a patient and then the next nurse after her gets a patient. So if you have somebody that is, like having to deal with a lot, like if their patient is having a lot of things going on, then we do tend to help out just because you know that eventually like you're gonna get somebody and we're all gonna be busy, so it works better if we all are just one team.

An ideal candidate for our department is one person that wants to be part of a team, someone who's willing to grow with us and learn with us. I look for staff members that are friendly, outgoing, have great people skills, people that are positive and that wanna contribute to the success of the hospital and the department, and most importantly, make a difference in our patients' lives.
