One of my favorite things about being in the float pool is that every day is different, and it's truly just 12 hours at a time. So in the morning, I come into the house coordinator's office and get my assignment sheet, and I find out where I'll be going for the day. I head up there, participate in huddle with the rest of the unit, get my patient assignments, and get the day started. And I really love being a reliable resource for the whole hospital staffing, and also making friends all over the hospital, and I just really love the variety. It's a great, great position if you want to flex your skills in different areas.

I have been with Northside for four years. And the question, what has kept me here, is really interesting to me because it was one of the questions that I asked my potential coworkers during my panel interview and the resounding response from everybody who had been there 10, 15, 17, almost 20 years, was that they felt supported. That was really important for me because feeling support not just from your coworkers, from your supervisor, from your director, from the staff throughout the hospital is something that is very rare to find in any organization. And I feel like that is what I have found here at Northside. Even in the interviews that I've been part of and conducted, the interpreters that come say that they've heard that Northside has a really high reputation and respect for the interpreters. And I have to say 100% I would not be here if I didn't feel respected, valued, needed. I just feel like my role means something at the end of the day. When I get out of bed, I'm going to do something that makes a difference.
